Compare steam consumption on the same basis

Start with saleable output, alcohol concentration and annual operating hours. A tonne of product normalized to 95% v/v is a different basis from a tonne of anhydrous product. Cooling-water circulation is also different from fresh-water consumption.

Then draw the process boundary. The Indonesia design treats the front end through distillation, dehydration and DDGS as separate consumption schedules. Adding figures without checking their denominators can double-count duties or omit important equipment.

Heat integration transfers available vapor or condensate heat to another useful duty. Column pressures, temperature difference, fouling and control stability limit what is practical. For a retrofit, measure the baseline first and compare at equivalent feed, throughput and product quality. Agree meter locations and a stable test period before assigning an energy guarantee.
